When you eat protein, it is broken down into amino acids. Amino acids are used for building muscle, regulating the immune system, metabolism, the manufacturing of various signaling molecules, etc. There are a total of 20 different amino acids that your body needs function properly. While all 20 of these are important for general health, 9 are classified as being essential. These essential amino acids cannot be produced by the body and must be obtained through the diet. Rich sources of essential amino acids include eggs, meat, poultry, dairy products, etc. Supplementation of essential amino acids can also be considered as a quick and convenient means of getting a sufficient serving of essential amino acids.

Protein Packed Chocolate Chip Cookies

Who needs a cheat day when you've got this healthier, sweet alternative?!

 

INGREDIENTS:

½ cup butter (softened)

½ cup stevia

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup gluten free flour

1 scoop Muscle Feast Oat Powder

2 scoops Muscle Feast chocolate concentrate

½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 cup unsweetened chocolate chips

 

DIRECTIONS:

1. Using a mixer, beat the butter and sugar on high speed for 30 seconds.  Scrape the edges of the mixing bowl, and on low speed mix in the egg and vanilla.

2. Sift together the dry ingredients.  With the mixer running on low, slowly add the dry ingredients.  Continue to mix until cookie dough is formed.

3. Roll the dough out to desired thickness and cut into the cookie size that you desire.  Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

4. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Bake cookies for 8 to 10 minutes.  Let the cookies cool at room temperature.

5. Store in an airtight ziplock bag.
